    What is Open WebUI?

    Open WebUI is the popular open-source AI chat interface that powers chat.aicollab.app. It provides the foundation for our unified workspace where you access 300+ AI models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Perplexity, and more — all in one place. We build on Open WebUI and extend it with our own billing, model catalog, EU routing, and compliance features. When the upstream project releases security fixes and improvements, we upgrade promptly to keep our platform secure and feature-rich.

    Security Fixes We Applied

    The 0.8.1 release includes important security improvements that we've rolled out to protect our users:

    • Public sharing security fix — API bypass that could circumvent sharing restrictions is now closed
    • Direct model access control fix — permissions now persist correctly and error messages display properly
    • Password validation fix — correct handling of special characters in passwords
    • Connection pool and streaming fixes — more stable under high load, fewer resource leaks

    New User Features

    Beyond security, 0.8.1 brings performance and usability improvements:

    • Faster model and prompt loading — optimized database queries for smoother navigation
    • Message queuing — queue messages while a response is generating instead of waiting
    • Improved reasoning trace rendering — no more fragmented output for thinking models
    • Web search result count — respects your configured search result limit
    • Better model selector — scrolls to the selected model and resets correctly when reopened
