Many AI tools run on a single server in a single datacenter. AI·Collab does not. We use a multi-layer architecture: Cloudflare for the frontend and edge security, a high-availability backend cluster, replicated databases, and a tested disaster recovery plan. This post explains what that means in plain terms — without getting too technical.
Typical low-cost setups use one server in one location. If that server goes down, everything goes down. Backups are often manual or minimal. AI·Collab is built differently.
Our website is served via Cloudflare's global CDN. European users get content from nearby edge locations across the EU. Cloudflare provides DDoS protection, a Web Application Firewall, and encryption at the edge.
Our chat and API run on multiple application servers behind Cloudflare's load balancer, with continuous health monitoring. Databases use replication for failover. Everything is hosted in a German datacenter with ISO 27001 certification.
How we compare to typical single-server setups.
| Aspect | Single Server (Hetzner, 1&1, etc.) | AI·Collab |
|---|---|---|
| Availability | One server = single point of failure; downtime during maintenance | Load-balanced servers; health monitoring; automatic failover; high uptime target |
| Speed | Depends on one location; no CDN | Global CDN; EU edge locations; low latency for European users |
| Scalability | Vertical only (bigger server); manual scaling | Horizontal scaling; database built for growth; CDN absorbs traffic spikes |
| Security | Often basic; manual SSL; limited DDoS protection | WAF, DDoS protection, modern TLS; hardened application layer; defense in depth |
| Backup | Often manual; limited retention; no tested restore | Automated encrypted backups; retention policy; tested recovery procedures |
| Data residency | Varies by provider | 100% EU (Germany); ISO 27001; GDPR-aligned |
| Deployment | Downtime during updates | Zero-downtime; staggered rollouts; rollback-ready |
We use an enterprise backup system with encrypted, automated backups. Daily, weekly, and monthly retention policies are in place. Application data, databases, and file storage are all covered. Recovery procedures are tested and documented.
Not every hosting or AI platform shares its status openly. We do. Our public status page shows real-time availability of the dashboard, chat, database, AI models, and file storage — with 90-day uptime history. Transparency is part of our infrastructure commitment.
View status at status.aicollab.appAI·Collab is not a "one server in one location" setup. We use Cloudflare for edge delivery and protection, a high-availability backend in Germany, replicated databases, and a documented backup and recovery strategy. That's the kind of infrastructure teams expect when they need reliability, speed, and compliance.
